Four FBR personnel, one cop killed in Dera Ismail Khan shootings

Five personnel were killed and one wounded in two separate shooting incidents in Dera Ismail Khan hours apart, according to news reports.

District Police Officer (DPO) Ziauddin Ahmed said that four Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) personnel were killed while on duty near Abhaya Bridge after armed men opened fire on them.

The victims included two permanent FBR employees and two contract workers, the police official added.

In a separate incident on Bannu Road, unidentified gunmen fired at a traffic police vehicle, killing one officer and injuring another, according to the DPO.

The two attacks took place in different parts of Dera Ismail Khan and involved personnel who were performing their official duties, police have confirmed.

Following the shootings, security was tightened in Dera Ismail Khan city and surrounding areas.

The reports did not provide details about the identities or number of attackers, nor did it state whether the two incidents were linked. No claim of responsibility for the attack was reported yet.

The shootings come amid heightened security concerns in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Police have stated that investigations into the incidents were under way.
