Former Pakistan batter Ahmad Shahzad has praised the country’s T20I captain Sahibzada Farhan after the hosts beat Sri Lanka by 82 runs in the second T20I.
Shahzad shared his views on X, commending Farhan for leading from the front.
“Sahibzada Farhan has won three of his four matches as captain, and it’s encouraging to see a leader who leads from the front with his performances,” he wrote.
Shahzad also praised Maaz Sadaqat for his batting alongside Farhan and credited Imran Randhawa for an impressive spell. He then urged the team management to give more chances to two young players.
“Overall, a convincing series for Pakistan. However, Razaullah and Sufiyan should also be given consistent opportunities to develop and prove themselves rather than being left on the sidelines,” he wrote.
Pakistan sealed the series with a match to spare at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Sri Lanka chose to bowl first, and Pakistan posted 215-3 in their 20 overs.
Sadaqat led the way with 96 off 51 balls, hitting six fours and seven sixes. The left-hander finished four runs short of his maiden T20I century. Farhan scored 73 off 44 balls, including four fours and five sixes, for his second successive half-century of the series. Fakhar Zaman made 22 off 17 balls with four boundaries, while Hasan Nawaz finished unbeaten on 19 off nine balls with a four and a six.
Sri Lanka could not keep up with the required rate and ended on 133-7. Randhawa took three wickets for 11 runs in his four overs. Salman Mirza claimed two wickets, while Saim Ayub and Shadab Khan took one each.
The win gave Pakistan an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
