Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has released out-of-form opener Saim Ayub from the Men’s ODI squad for the rest of the ongoing tri-series with Sri Lanka and England, replacing him with Sahibzada Farhan.
According to reports, Saim asked to return to domestic cricket after speaking with the head coach, to work on his batting and regain confidence.
Farhan is playing in the Nepal Premier League in Kathmandu but will fly back to Pakistan on the first available flight.
Saim played three matches in the tri-series. He scored seven runs against Sri Lanka, then eight and six in two matches against England.
Pakistan have qualified for the final after three straight wins. They face Sri Lanka in the fifth match of the tri-series at Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday.
On Sunday, PCB released left-arm wrist spinner Sufiyan Moqim, citing the nature of Lahore pitches.
He will return to domestic cricket. Left-handed batter Maaz Sadaqat joined the squad as cover for players with minor niggles.
