President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian will travel to Moscow on Monday night to attend a summit of gas-exporting countries and meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Pezeshkian will attend the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit on Tuesday and deliver a speech during the event. His one-day visit may also include bilateral meetings with leaders of other participating countries.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on Friday that Pezeshkian and Putin will meet in Moscow this week.
In a post on Instagram, Araghchi said the meeting will follow up on discussions held during Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s visit to Tehran on October 19.
The talks will focus on bilateral cooperation as well as regional and international developments, according to Araghchi’s announcement.
The GECF is an intergovernmental organisation that brings together major natural gas-producing countries, including Iran, Russia, Qatar and Algeria.
