Apple has introduced touchscreen controls to its MacBook Pro lineup for the first time, allowing users to interact directly with content on the laptop’s display.

The company is launching its first touchscreen MacBook Pro, with prices starting at $2,899 (PKR 800,751.92) for the 14-inch model and $3,399 (PKR 938,860.22) for the 16-inch version.

The new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display was unveiled at Apple’s “Pro and Tell” event on October 28 and is available for pre-order through the company’s website.

The laptop is scheduled to go on sale on November 6.

Apple is offering education pricing of $2,749 (PKR 759,319.43) for the 14-inch model and $3,199 (883,616.90) for the 16-inch version.

The touchscreen feature allows users to interact directly with content on the display, including manipulating 3D models and playing musical instruments on screen.

The new MacBook Pro comes with Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, which the company describes as its most powerful processors for a professional laptop.

Configurations start with 24GB of unified memory and 1TB of storage, while the highest-end models offer up to 128GB of memory and 16TB of storage.

Apple is also introducing an enhanced six-speaker sound system, which the company says delivers 50 percent deeper bass and clearer audio.

Other features include Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera and studio-quality microphones. The laptop also runs macOS 27 and supports Apple Intelligence and Siri.

The launch marks a change in Apple’s MacBook Pro lineup, bringing touchscreen controls to the laptop for the first time while retaining the hardware and software features aimed at professional users.

The new models are currently available to order directly from Apple’s website, with no other retailers listed as ordering options in the initial announcement.
