President of the United States (US) Donald Trump has floated the idea of moving to Israel and becoming its prime minister if Americans ever get tired of him and netizens are not exactly giving him a warm send-off.
During a recent conversation, the US president suggested that he could take up the role in Israel if people in the United States decided they had had enough of him.
“In fact, if people ever got tired of me in the US, I’ll move to Israel, become prime minister,” Trump said, according to an international media outlet.
His remarks quickly spread across social media, where users responded with jokes, criticism and offers to help him leave the country.
“Does he need helping packing,” one user asked. “Get packing orange princess, it’s time to go,” another wrote.
Some users questioned whether Trump would follow through on the suggestion, with one commenting, “Too bad he never keeps his promises.”
One comment joked, “Not even Israel deserves a punishment like this. Oh… wait… actually, they do!”
One commentator offered to cover the cost of his departure, writing, “I’ll pay for Trump’s flight.”
Another suggested that the president was already preparing to leave, saying, “Dude is planning his escape already.”
Trump’s remarks also drew criticism over US spending and his relationship with Israel. “Trump is fleecing us for all that money and then he will flee. To israel,” one person wrote.
