Two suspects allegedly involved in the rape and murder of five-year-old Aun Abbas have been killed in an encounter with the Crime Control Department (CCD) in Muridke tehsil of Sheikhupura district on Wednesday, local media has reported.
Citing a police spokesperson, the report said that four suspected robbers were committing a robbery on 34 Chak Road when they saw a police mobile and opened fire on it. Police returned fire and killed two suspects, while the other two escaped.
Police identified the dead suspects as Asif and his friend Muneeb. They said that the investigation into the child’s death showed that the two men had allegedly sexually assaulted and killed him.
Police said the suspects were Aun Abbas’s neighbours and had thrown his body into a village pond. Aun was the only brother of five sisters.
Police said that they recovered weapons from the dead suspects. Officials moved the bodies to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital for legal formalities.
