A soldier has been martyred while 17 terrorists have been killed in two Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) in Balochistan’s Kachhi and Kharan districts, the military’s media wing said.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Tuesday, security forces carried out the operations on November 1 after receiving reports about the presence of terrorists belonging to Indian proxy group Fitna al Hindustan.
The first operation took place in the Sanni area of Kachhi district, where security forces foiled an attempt by terrorists to establish a roadblock in the area, the statement said.
The action resulted in thr elimination of 10 terrorists, while security personnel also recovered weapons and ammunition from the site, ISPR added.
In a separate operation in Kharan district, security forces raided a terrorist hideout and killed seven terrorists following an exchange of fire. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered during the second operation, the military’s media wing stated.
During the operations, Sepoy Hikmatullah, 25, from Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), was martyred, the statement added.
ISPR said that security forces had launched sanitisation operations in the areas to search for any remaining terrorists.
President Asif Ali Zardari commended security forces for killing 17 terrorists and paid tribute to Sepoy Hikmatullah.
“[His] sacrifice for the defence of the homeland and for peace and security will always be remembered,” the president said, while extending condolences and sympathy to the soldier’s family.
“Operations under Azm-i-Istehkam will continue until the complete eradication of terrorism sponsored and supported from abroad,” he added.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also praised security forces for the operations and commended their professional capabilities in thwarting what he described as the terrorists’ plans.
In a post on X, the interior ministry quoted Naqvi as saying that the “brave sons of the security forces are a source of pride for the nation”.
He also paid tribute to the martyred soldier and said that security forces remained committed to eliminating Indian-sponsored terrorists.
