Court grants bail to Iqrar Ul Hassan in anti-state social media content case

by PNN Author

A district court on Saturday granted bail to Awam Raj Tehreek chief Iqrar Ul Hassan in a case involving the alleged dissemination of anti-state content on social media.

According to reports, the court directed the journalist and former television host to submit surety bonds worth Rs200,000.

Hassan’s wife Farah also confirmed the news in a social media post, writing, “Alhamdulillah, Iqrar’s bail has been approved.”

Earlier, on October 22, a judicial magistrate had rejected Iqrar’s bail application, three days after he was sent on judicial remand instead of National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency’s (NCCIA) request to seek an extension in his physical remand.

The court had also directed the cybercrime watchdog to submit the challan within 14 days.
