Fans have submitted nearly 8.4 million (84 lakh) ticket requests for a group-stage match between Pakistan and India at the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
The arch rivals will meet on October 10 at the Wanderers in Johannesburg, a stadium that holds only 34,000 spectators. The same ground hosts the final on November 21, which has drawn almost eight million ticket applications.
The tournament opens on October 7 with a rematch of the 2023 final, when Australia stunned India in Ahmedabad.
Pakistan vs India remains one of the most anticipated fixtures in cricket and the most lucrative financially.
Pakistan share their group with India, Australia, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and a qualifier. England sit in the other group alongside South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and a qualifier.
The top three teams from each group, plus the best fourth-placed side, advance to the Super 7 stage. The top four teams from that stage reach the semi-finals.
South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia are co-hosting the tournament.
