Pakistan will make its FIFA World Cup debut at any level when the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Saturday, October 24.
Pakistan is among 78 Member Associations set to make their first appearance in a FIFA World Cup competition at the six-day event, which will bring together 189 Member Associations.
The tournament will feature players born in 2011 or 2012 and aims to promote youth development, international exposure and enjoyment rather than focusing solely on results. For many participants, it will also provide their first opportunity to travel abroad and represent their countries on an international stage.
Pakistan will open its campaign against Gambia on October 24. The tournament will give the country’s young footballers an opportunity to gain international experience and compete against teams from different parts of the world.
The competition will follow an eight-a-side format, with matches consisting of two 20-minute halves. Teams will play on smaller pitches, with rolling substitutions to maximise playing opportunities for young footballers.
Unlike conventional knockout tournaments, all participating teams will continue playing until the final day, ensuring that every squad gets multiple matches and further opportunities to develop its players.
Beyond the matches, the festival will feature educational activities, meetings with FIFA Legends and awareness campaigns focused on youth development. Most matches will take place at the Hovsan Competition Complex, while Baku Crystal Hall will host the opening ceremony and finals. All teams will stay together in an Athletes’ Village.
FIFA Council approved the inaugural boys’ edition in December 2025. The governing body plans to introduce a girls’ edition in 2027, followed by annual boys’ and girls’ tournaments from 2028.
