Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat has challenged Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Sohail Afridi to bring the party’s long march to Islamabad before October 15, warning that he will proceed with a court case if the demonstration does not reach the capital by then.
In a post on X, Marwat said he had been waiting for the past two and a half months for Afridi to lead the march to Islamabad, but had yet to see any indication of its arrival.
“Sohail Afridi Sahib, I have been waiting for your long march to arrive in Islamabad for the past two and a half months, but there are still no signs of it anywhere,” Marwat wrote.
He said he had requested a postponement of his case before the constitutional court on September 14 specifically to avoid his court appearance becoming an obstacle to Afridi’s march or a PTI-led demonstration.
“But this long march has dragged on like a common cold!” he added.
Marwat said his case was now scheduled for October 15 before the same court and asked Afridi to bring the procession to Islamabad before that date.
“If you intend to hold the long march and come to Islamabad, please arrive before October 15. I will appreciate your arrival in Islamabad,” he wrote.
However, he warned that he would not request another postponement if the march had not reached the capital by the time of his next hearing.
“But if you cannot bring the march to Islamabad by October 15, I will not request an adjournment this time and will present my arguments in my case,” Marwat said.
He also urged his legal team to prepare for the hearing, adding a pointed remark about the delay in the march.
“Please ensure your lawyers are prepared to appear in court. Perhaps they will arrive before the march does,” he wrote.
The case concerns Marwat’s challenge to Sohail Afridi’s election as KP CM, with the PTI leader seeking to have the legal validity of the process examined by the court.
