Pak-Russia military exercise concludes with focus on strengthening ties

Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Albert P. Khorev has said that joint military exercises between Russia and Pakistan provide an opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations, improve coordination and exchange military experience and traditions.

Khorev made the remarks after tactical demonstrations at the closing ceremony of the ninth joint Russia-Pakistan “Druzhba” military exercises in Cherat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

The exercises brought together personnel from Russia’s 201st Military Base of the Central Military District, stationed in Tajikistan, and Pakistan’s Special Forces.

During the drills, the participating troops conducted coordinated counterterrorism operations in challenging terrain and used advanced weapons and technologies, including __ (UAVs).

Khorev congratulated the Russian and Pakistani forces on the successful completion of the exercises and highlighted the coordination and cohesion demonstrated by the participating units.

He also pointed to the exchange of military experience and traditions between the two forces, saying that such exercises will help strengthen bilateral relations between Russia and Pakistan.

The closing ceremony was attended by Khorev, while the participating forces were commanded by Colonel Oleg Stetsyuk, deputy chief of staff of Russia’s Central Military District; Lieutenant General Muhammad Amir Najam, Inspector General Training and Evaluation; Major General Ahmed Jawad, commander of the Special Operations Forces; and Brigadier General Muhammad Imran Aslam, commander of the 22nd Special Forces Brigade of the Pakistan Army.

The tactical demonstrations were held on October 1 as part of the exercises, with Russian and Pakistani special forces carrying out counterterrorism drills in the terrain at Cherat.

The ninth edition of the “Druzhba” exercises concluded with the participating personnel demonstrating their coordination during the joint operations.
