Security forces have killed 13 terrorists during an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan, state media reported on Wednesday, as counter-terrorism operations continue across the province.

State media, citing security sources, reported that the forces killed “13 Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists in an IBO in North Waziristan, as operations against militant groups continue under the Azm-e-Istehkam vision”.

Fitna al-Khawarij is the term used by Pakistani authorities for members of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The operation came a day after security forces killed five terrorists in a separate IBO in North Waziristan, according to state media.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif have previously praised security forces for their operations against terrorist groups.

Security forces have carried out several operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in recent weeks.

On October 2, seven terrorists were killed in an IBO in North Waziristan, while three were killed in another operation in Mir Ali on September 30.

Five terrorists were also killed during an IBO in Bara on September 29, while four were killed in an operation in Dera Ismail Khan on September 28, according to state media.

The operations took place as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continues to face terrorist attacks and security challenges.
